Darryl Demps is a multidisciplinary artist whose work reflects the narrative of his life, exploring mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual transitions. Drawing inspiration from dreams, visions, nature, his identity as a Black man in modern America, and his Christian faith, Darryl transforms personal experience into layered visual storytelling.

Working primarily with wood, carving, acrylic and oil paint, digital photography, videography, and dried flowers, he incorporates the Japanese wood-burning technique Shou Sugi Ban, a craft he refined while apprenticing under artist Gil Bruvel. His practice blends abstract woodscapes with intricate carving, gold leaf, and organic elements, creating pieces that embody both rawness and reverence.

At the heart of his work is storytelling — interpreting imagery revealed through dreams and visions, then weaving them with personal history to share deeper truths of transformation, resilience, and faith.
